Liebster (Blog) Awards

liebster award

Last week I’ve been nominated for not one, but two Liebster Awards! I can’t believe how lucky I am and I really want to thank the two people who nominated me, Alenixedda of Da una stella cadente all’altra and Becky of Under the Sea Beauty. You guys are amazing, and if you don’t know their blogs, I really suggest you check them out cause they’re really worth you time!

  1. Link back to the person that nominated you.
  2. Answer questions given by the nominator.
  3. Nominate 11 other bloggers with less than 200 followers.
  4. Create 11 questions for the nominees.
  5. Notify all nominees via social media/blogs.

Alenixedda’s questions

1. A book, a song, a movie and a city that describe you or to which you feel really close. This is more difficult than expected… As for the book, I will go with Sophie’s World, which is a book that changed my life. For the song I don’t even have to think about it, and I go with Imagine right away, cause it describes everything I believe in. There are many movies that I love, but I feel really close to Mary Poppins since it always remember me to look at life with positivity and it makes me believe that it is still possible to have the imagination of a child even when you’re older. Lately, I don’t think there is a particular city that can describe me or a part of myself… But I’d really like to visit Neverland, one day.

2. Which imaginary character would you like to meet, and why? Once again, I’ll go with Mary Poppins. I’d like to see if I would actually love her or found her irritating…

3. If you could time-travel which epoch would you choose? Would it be in the past or would you like to know the future? I will definitely choose something (well, sometime) in the past, even if I’m not too sure what era… But all I know is that the future scares me I really want the future to be a surprise.

4. Do you collect anything? Owls! Even if it’s not really a collection, but more an obsession…

Becky’s questions

1. If you could re-live any moment in your life, what would it be? My first concert with the choir where I sing, when I was about 6 years old. I remember I was really excited, and I’d like to feel that again, since after that we had so many concerts that sometimes I forget how exciting this can be.

2. What song could you listen to on repeat, and not get tired of? The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel.

3. What did you initially think when your blog started growing? I’m not even sure that it’s acutally growing that much, but I was really happy about the more comment I got, since that’s one of the things I love most about blogging.

4. If you could only pick one beauty item to take with you on vacation, what would you take? Mascara, for sure!

5. Did you think you would be where you are today a year ago? Yes, since I was already studying and I knew I still had at least one year to go. But thinking about my love life, I didn’t expect that many changes for sure… I guess I thought I was stuck, and I’m really happy I was wrong. I couldn’t be more blissful than I am!

6. What are you most looking forward to in this next year? I really hope my studies will end well and that I will find a decent work. And, well.. everything else that comes with it.

7. Your at the movies, what is your must-have snack to have? Pop corn for sure! Except if I’m watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In that case I must have some dark chocolate with me.

8. Have you ever thought about starting your own YouTube channel? If you have one already, what motivated you to start it? I thought about it, but I wouldn’t know what to do. Also, I don’t think I would ever be able to talk in front of a camera.

9. What is your favorite quality about yourself? I think I’m a good listener, and I love to help others when I can.

10. What motivates you to write a blog post? When I have a good blogpost idea, I just want to share it with my readers! When I have some good photography that can go with it, I feel even more motivated!

11. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be? Probably Canada, but only if Stitch can come with me.

3 Ways To Seek Your Positivity

3 ways to seek your positivity

These last days I’ve been thinking about positivity. I had a good talk with some people, and I realized how it always seems easier to be negative than positive. The discussion we had was about the fact that even in a situation that we should be enjoying and loving, we keep thinking about the negative side of it. And when someone starts pointing out a negative point, everyone else follow the lead and start doing the same. It’s really difficult to break this circle, but I came up with some ideas that I want to share with you.

Use “but” in a better way

Let’s start by saying that it is impossible to be positive all the time. However, I realized that most of the time, we start with a positive sentence and we add something negative at the end. “I like autumn, but I hate this cold” or “I like my job, but I always have to get up early in the morning and I’m always tired”. How many times did we do that? The thing is, even if we were saying something good, what stick into our mind is the last little bit of the sentence, the negative one. So, if we really need to point out something negative, why don’t we try the other way around? Let’s start with the negative point and then focus on the positivity: “I don’t like this cold, but I love autumn!”. This way, we empathize the good side of our sentence and it’s easier to remember it in our mind.

Minimize the negativity and maximise the positivity

This step is really simple. When we’re about to say something good, let’s try to exaggerate it (without being fake, of course). Do you like something? Why not really like it, or even love it? And since it’s not easy to cut off all negativity from our life, let’s try with baby steps. Instead of saying you hate something, try to minimize it and say you just don’t like it that much. Of course, if you’re able to stop yourself and don’t say anything negative at all, that’s even better!

Smile, smile, smile!

I’m sure you already heard this, but simile is the best thing a women can wear. And I’d like to change it a little bit and say that it’s the best thing every human being can wear. Sometimes we forget about what expression we are making with our face – and most of those times, it ends up being a not so happy face. Forcing a smile is the simplest thing to do in moments like those. Think about something happy, and you’ll see an instant change in your aptitude. And don’t forget that a smile is also really contagious – even more than yawning, in some occasions, so you might end up bringing some positivity in the people around you as well!

Do you have any other idea to bring more positivity in your life?

Cuteness Overload

rumble, cuteness overload, cute videos

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Rumble. All opinions are 100% mine.

Outside is getting colder and the rain has started its November marathon. I don’t know about you, but for me this excuse is enough to put on my PJs and crawl into my bed with my laptop as soon as I get home from work or school.

And even if there is always a lot of stuff to do, sometimes I just like to take a break from all the stress by watching some random videos. Normally I would go on YouTube and browse some video’s suggestions, but I recently found another website called Rumble that, even if it’s still growing and may not have the same big community as YouTube, have some really great and cute videos.

Now, let’s all admit it. Sometimes we just feel the need of having something cute before our eyes. And with a nice cup of tea on your side, there’s nothing better than watch some kittens playing or an adorable hedgehog waking up. And… can we just take a moment to fall in love with this puppy falling asleep?

I’m still just discovering this new website, but I have to say so far I’m liking it. The videos are normally pretty short and it doesn’t seem to be lots of editing behind them, but I think that this does make them more real.

So what are you waiting for? Go grab you cup of tea, jump into your bed and start warming up your heart with these cute videos!

Did you already know Rumble and what do you think of it?

Last week-end was really great. Stitch and I had the pleasure of spend some time in two places our little Country is known for: mountains and lakes. Oh wait, maybe that was Canada… and you probably know as more for our chocolate and our cheese. But still, we have some beautiful mountains and lakes as well!

As you may had notice from the way we were dressed, it was pretty cold (even if the sun was out). But I don’t bother, because I have him to warm my heart.

Okay, am I becoming too cheesy?

My School Essentials

As a university student, it happens to be away from home all day long. Every night before going to bed, I always check my bag to see if I have everything ready for the next day, so that I can save some time in the morning. Here’s the list of my essentials!

Laptop – I always make sure to charge my MacBook Air for the next day, as in general I don’t like to take the charger with me. If your battery runs out quickly, maybe it’s better to bring it with you as well. Some of my fellow students use their iPad (usually with a keyboard) to take notes, others take them on paper. Use what works best for you!

Water – I make sure to always bring with me a bottle of water, since we all know how important it is for our health. Sometimes, when it get cooler outside, I also take with me a thermos with some hot tea.

Snacks – When I’m concentrated, I tend to get really hungry. I think if it was for me, I could it all the time. I have to admit that sometimes I forget to bring food with me, so I end up buying something at the university’s cafeteria…

Books – Of course, if you need some books for your classes, make sure to take them with you! I know they’re heavy, but they’re still really important. If you just need few pages, you can also scan them on your computer, so you don’t have to bring the whole book with you.

Notebook – I never go anywhere without my current notebook with me. You never know when a good blog post idea will come to you, or when you’ll need to write down something important!

Agenda – Even if lately I found that using the Calendar App to keep all my schedules together, I still love writing down my appointments and big events on my Moleskine. I love to write when something good happens to me during the day as well.

Pens, colors and highlighters – The last two points would be really pointless without some writing material. I think that color is the key to make everything more fun and enjoyable to (re)read.

iPod and headphones – Between a class and another, I sometimes go to the library or to a study room to get ahead with the stuff I need to do (studying, writing, reading,…). Since I get bored of too much silence, I always bring with my iPod and my Urbanears.

Camera – I try to always find a place for my camera in my bag. I sometimes switch between my Canon Powershot G16 and my Instax Mini 90. You never know when a nice shooting opportunity will appear!

Wallet, keys and phone – Do I really have to explain those?

iPhone portable charger – Since my iPhone sometimes runs out pretty quickly of battery, I normally have with me my portable charger I got from here. It already saved me more than once.

What are your school essentials?

Liebster Award from Shannon Stacey

I feel like lately I’ve been rewarded with lots of awards, and I can’t believe how lucky I’m for having such lovely readers! Shannon Stacey is an amazing blogger and I love reading her posts. If you don’t follow her already, I really suggest you to check out her blog. You won’t regret it, I promise!

She nominated me for the Liebster Award, which consists in answering Shannon’s questions and make a list of other questions for you nominees to answer. I’m really honored for this Award, thank you so much!

Now on the questions…

Shannon’s questions

1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I think I’d say Canada or London. I’ve already been in Canada for 7 months few years ago, as a fille au pair and it was one of the most exciting experiences of my life. I love the nature, the kindness of the people, the weather,… everything! London, on the other side, is a city I always liked, even if I’ve been there only one time for now. But I’ve planned I vacation there with Stitch this December and I can’t wait for it!!

2. Which 3 things would you take onto a desert island?
This will be a really predictable answer. I think I would bring my guitar – I’m not a good player, but at least I will have something to sing along to. The second thing would be a book, and if I had to chose one I think it would be Sophie’s World by Jostein Gaarder. The last thing is a camera, cause if I’d be on a desert island, at least I could make some pictures of the sea…

3. Where are you from?
I’m from Switzerland and still live here. I grow up on the italian side of Switzerland, where I still live (at least when I don’t have school), but I study (and live during the week) in the French side.

4. Are you bi/multi-lingual?
My native language is italian. I’m not sure if I can define myself as a multi-lingual person, but I’m doing my current studies in french. I understand french really well, but when it comes to talk or write I still make lots of mistakes, even if I’m able to communicate. I also speak english, even if I think my accent would make laugh most of you. I had some classes back in high school where I learned the bases of it, but most of my knowledge is from my experience in Canada and by reading blogs and watching movies in english. Once again, I know I still make plenty of mistakes (I’m probably making some right now), but hopefully you’ll forgive me…

5. What is your dream job?
I started my studies wishing I could become a support teacher. Ok, now I’m not sure if that’s the right word for it, but anyway it would be a kind of teacher that helps kids with difficulties in school. But unfortunately they changed some laws or something and now my studies won’t let me do that. I would love to be able to have a job that include some photography and some writing…. Oh wait, that would be my blog. Yup. It will remain just a dream I guess….

6. Describe yourself in 3 words?
Dreamy, artistic and lazy.

7. What would you say is your biggest addiction?
At the moment, I think blogging is. Oh and pop corns.

8. Favourite food?
There are a lot of foods that I love. But probably lasagna and baked potatoes.

9. Favourite name?
I really like the name Emma, but don’t ask me why…

10. Favourite film?
I think that The Lion King and Mary Poppins will always be my favorites.

My questions

1. What’s your favorite season?
2. If your life could be a movie, what movie would it be?
3. How would you describe your personality?
4. What’s your biggest fear?
5. Three things you don’t like about you?
6. Three things you love about you?

Since I stated before that I’m a lazy person, I’m gonna nominate just three blogs this time – also because I already nominated lots of blogs the last time. As always, feel free to answer to the previous question even if you’re not nominated!

5 Things I Need To Learn

141024 5 things i need to learn

Camera: MacBook Air with Photo Booth
Editor: PicMonkey
© photography by

1 – Wake up when the first alarm start ringing

I have the really bad habit to set more than one alarms and keep snoozing them. The result: I always end up having less time than I planned to get ready. And that just because I excuse myself by saying that at least I slept a bit more, which is actually not true. In fact, while I keep snoozing the alarm, I can’t seem to sleep for real and I end up being even more tired than before. I really want to learn to get up at the first alarm, and start the day in a better way.

2 – Complain less and be more positive

It happens sometimes than when I don’t know what to say, I end up breaking the silence by complaining about something. The weather, the fact that I’m bored, how annoying some people are,… It’s like I can’t help myself, and I hate that. I really want to try and stop myself. I don’t want to come out as a negative person, which in those moments I guess I am. I have to make the effort and try to say something positive instead of complaining. Or, if I can’t find anything, I could try and just shut up. I already had lots of people back when I was younger telling me how shy I was, so I don’t really mind. Or maybe I do. Ouch.

3 – Save more instead of spending everything

Lately I’ve been spending more than I should have. As a student, that’s not really the greatest thing to do. I keep telling myself that I can buy that if I sell something I don’t use anymore, but than I can’t find the time to actually try to sell my stuff. And even when I tried, nobody seem to want to buy anything. But I guess I shouldn’t give up so easily.

4 – Taking some more time to exercise

I say it all the time: I’m a lazy girl. I love staying in my bed with my beloved laptop reading blogs and watching tv series. But this doesn’t mean that I would love to be more sporty. I also bought an iPod shuffle this summer to try and get motivated to go running. But during the whole summer, I just went maybe 3 or 4 times. Shame on me. Since winter is coming, I’d really like to start doing some sort of exercise that I could do at home. I know there are lots of videos and apps showing daily routines to do. I just need to learn to stop postpone everything and just get into it. For real this time.

5 – Do a decent messy bun

This is kind of a more superficial point. I love wearing my messy bun, which I do most of the time. It’s just so comfy and it keeps your hair out of your face. But I ended up doing a good looking bun only on few occasions and mostly when I’m heading to bed. In fact, most of the times my bun is just not right: too little, way too messy, not messy enough,… Yeah, I know… still complaining. But I’d really like to be able to do a really cute messy bun, at least sometimes. I already watched lots of youtube’s video with those beauty guru showing their secrets to achieve the perfect bun. What I learned from them, it’s that they use something like 3Kg worth of bobby pins. Unfortunately, I hate using bobby pins to secure my hairstyles, so I guess I’m screwed. Oh well.

The Good Angle

As you may know, I never liked the way I look in photographs. I find myself always looking really bad and I hate that. I read here and there that it’s all about finding the good angle and that practice makes perfect. But every time I tried to practice to find what’s my good angle, I got really upset cause my face just couldn’t look even a bit good.

The other day I was out with Stitch, that is one of the only people that already succeed in making my like one of my photographs. I needed a picture to complete my CV, but I was scared and already sad since I know I would not have liked anything coming from the camera. So he decided that it was about time to finally find your good angle, and that I couldn’t complain about it.

The good angle2

I think he might be a wizard or something like that, because once again he did the magic. I’m not saying that I look stunning or anything but, I do like those pictures and I don’t hate my face in it. And, if you know me, you should know that it’s something impressing. Really impressing.

The good angle3

So, according to Stitch, that’s my good angle: head turned on my left shoulder, and slightly pushed back. I hope I will remember that instead of having a panic attack next time someone is about to take take a picture of me.

The good angle4

I guess that a big part of it was also having the picture taken with someone you’re really comfortable with.

What’s your good angle?

The good angle2

Molto impressionante.

The good angle3

The good angle4

Sono comunque convinta che questo successo sia dovuto anche al fatto di aver posato (se così si può dire) insieme ad una persona con la quale mi sento molto a mio agio…

Qual’è il vostro angolo buono?
