As you know, it’s been a while now that I’ve been translating my italian post in english as well. I find that this exercice give the blog the opportunity to be read by more people and in fact it did actually bring here some more readers.
Normally, I would translate the whole post and write it down in a different color or style, but I realized that this can also give a messy look to the blog, and sometimes it’s not that great to have to scroll down to find where to start reading.
Also, I have to admit that sometimes I didn’t write some stuff ’cause I didn’t want to translate them in english, which now I realize it’s pretty stupid. I don’t like the look of a long post, so I tried to keep it short.
But as you may have noticed, something as changed! Oh yeah, I discovered a great plugin called Polylang. This little thing give you the opportunity to write your blog in more than one language (I’ll stay with two, but I guess there are people way more international than I am). As you can see, there is a little switch link on the right menu, that let you chose between English and Italian. I think this is just amazing!
The thing that I love about this plugin, is that it doesn’t translate automatically your post, but it let you do the work. I like to use my words, even if I know my English posts are probably full of mistakes, and make everything… mine.
Also, this allows me to translate only what I want to translate. This is also great, because I have to admit that sometimes I don’t feel like translating a long Italian post in English… And at the same time, sometimes I really like to write in English and don’t want to translate in my mother language.
So here I am, with my last solution. Or, I guess, what it should be my last solution. From now on, you will be able to navigate directly in the language you prefer without any truble – I hope.
I promise I will still make the effort to translate the majority of my post in both language, but you guys now sometimes I’m really lazy and I already know that there will be some posts here and there only in one language.
I’d also like to apologize for the mails you may have received if you subscribed by mail to the blog. I wanted to test the plugin by making some of the old post bilingual, so I had to create a few new post. I’m sorry about that. Hopefully you won’t be too mad at me…
So, there was my big news! Hope you like it!
