Let’s be honest for a moment, here. Who never had a writer’s block when it comes to blogging? I’m the first to admit I had it a lot of times, and I still do, even if less than before. Unfortunately there’s no magic potion to help you overcome your writer’s block, but there are a few things you can do to try and get over it.
Go outside – As bloggers, it’s normal to keep looking for new post ideas. But sometimes we just stay in our room, waiting for a great idea to find us. Even if sometimes it may happen to you to just get hit by a genius subject to write about, it’s more likely that you’re gonna just wait and wait and get frustrated when nothing comes to your mind. So just put on your shoes and go outside! Because, guess what? Nothing new will probably happen to you while you’re still at home. Enjoy the fresh air, the sun or even the rain! You can take your camera with you and take some picture for a nice photography post. Or maybe you will find a new corner of the city where you’ve never been before. Inspiration is everywhere!
Talk to someone – When you can find anything new to write about, talking with a friend (or even a stranger, sometimes) may give you the right inspiration. Just be open about it. Admit that you’re struggling with a writer’s block and ask for help. Two minds are stronger than one.
Take a shower – I don’t know about you, but I seem to always have the greatest ideas while I’m taking a shower. It can go from the perfect answer for a conversation I had days before (I’m not the only one, right?), to what gift I should get for someone’s birthday, to blog posts ideas. So, when you feel you’re getting frustrating, instead of looking at a blank page on your laptop or start scrolling on social networks, just go take a shower. It will refresh you and, hopefully, some good ideas will come out of it.
Read other people blogs – And by this I don’t mean in any way “copy other people’s blogs”. But who knows, you may find some inspiration in other people’s words. Also, you can also put together a list of great posts to read around a subject, or suggest your readers some new blogs to read!
Re-focus – If you still can’t find anything to write in your blog, it may be because the main topic of your blog doesn’t inspire you anymore. It’s okay to change things up, really! So don’t be afraid of re-focusing your blog based on your interests.
